Oh! I am not a ludditte!
Why oh why is blogger so user unfriendly? Two hours now trying to figure out how to post a pic..is there an application I must upload? THis is crazy-time considering it is Google-controlled. Unhappy. at the moment. :(
friend visiting!
This will be my first visit from a friend from the US and an auspicious one. My first year here was a lonely one outside of school, but my heart soared each time I stepped into school as some of these images may attest.
Next week I visit Mokpo (a resort sea-side port town) akin to Spain's Valenica where I spent a year in 2007 teaching business English and French. I start a new teaching post there in early September. Making the switch to kids was a troublesome decision (when I was still working with adults) but an easy paradigm to embrace once it got underway...the children are innocent, enthusiastic, and sponges. What more can a budding teaching ask for?
My hope is that Mokpo will give me access to language & music lessons, western friends, and some play along the shore - hiking in Hangul is the only venue here...although there is one "mega-mart" (supermarket - for my western friends) about 3 km away. This is chicken-country and vegetable patches. While I aspire to retire onto a working- farm in the future, I require more this day.
I cannot imagine what it may be like to settle back into the United States...despite a love, a home and children to nuture...this ship sails for now...and is open to any port, but, Mokpo for now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mokpo
